When in my daily Bible reading, I noticed a small chart on the side that listed a few of the names of Jerusalem. I found it interesting, and I thought I would share a few of them with you! I have researched a few more names, their meanings, and Scripture references that I will also share. :)
Jerusalem means:
1) The City of Peace
2) The City of the Great King
"Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion in the far north, The City of the Great King." ~ Psalm 48:2

3) The City of Our God
"Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and the City of Our God, His holy mountain."
~Psalm 48:1
"With the east wind You break the ships of Tarshish. As we have heard, so we have seen in The City of the LORD of Hosts, in the City of Our God; God will establish her forever." ~ Psalm 48:7-8
4) The City of the LORD of Hosts
Psalm 48:8 (shown above)
5) Salem, which means Peace
"God is known in Judah; His name is great in Israel. His tabernacle is in Salem; His dwelling place also is in Zion." ~Psalm 76:1-2
6) The City of Righteousness
"I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning after that you will be called The City of Righteousness, a faithful city." ~ Isaiah 1:26
7) Ariel, which means Lion of God
"Woe, O Ariel, Ariel the city where David once camped!" ~Isaiah 29:1
8) The Holy City
"Awake, awake, clothe yourself in your strength, O Zion; clothe yourself in your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, The Holy City." ~ Isaiah 52:1
9) The Throne of the LORD
"At that time they will call Jerusalem 'The Throne of the LORD', and all the nations will gather to it." ~ Jeremiah 3:17
10) The LORD is Our Righteousness
"In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell in safety; and this is the name by which she will be called: The LORD is Our Righteousness." ~Jeremiah 33:16
11) The City of Truth
"Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the LORD of Hosts will be called the Holy Mountain." ~Zechariah 8:3
12) Holy Mountain
Zechariah 8:3 (shown above)
13) Zion
Some say Zion refers to Jerusalem, where others say it refers to Israel.
"The ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away." ~Isaiah 35:10
Although these are not all the names of Jerusalem, I enjoyed my study, and I hope you do too! :)
